Former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday visited the initial recipients of the government’s Socialized Housing Program during her administration in Sitio Pajo in Baesa, Quezon City. In 2001, then President Arroyo issued Executive Order 48, which sought to grant the National Power Corporation’s (NAPOCOR) 1.6-hectare land to the informal settlers who occupied the property. Meanwhile, residents requested to extend the housing program to the neighboring property of Sitio Pajo, but there are issues on the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) right of way. Rep. Jose Christopher Belmonte (6th District, Quezon City) raised that Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and the NGCP have already agreed that easements shall be provided to Baesa.
